When he moved to San Francisco, he met Jerry Garcia and appeared on the Grateful Dead album 'American Beauty' and played in Garcia's bluegrass band Old & In The Way. This unique project also features two very special guests, the master of bluegrass banjo, Earl Scruggs, on "Dawggy Mountain Breakdown" (The Car Talk Theme) and jazz violin titan, Stephane Grappelli playing David's tribute to him, "Steppin' With Stephane."
